USS Spiegel Grove
The sinking of the USS Spiegel Grove in the Florida Keys was funded in part through the sale of annual medallions, which helped raise money for the project. These medallions were sold to collectors, divers, and enthusiasts to support the costs associated with preparing and sinking the ship as an artificial reef. Each year, a new medallion was issued, marking a different aspect of the Spiegel Groves' history and its transformation into a diving destination. The sale of these medallions played a crucial role in making the reef project a reality, providing both funding and a way to commemorate the event. The Museum of Diving History holds a collection of these unique pieces and the sale of them are actually donations to our nonprofit.
Each medallion is 2 inches in diameter.
Great for making hanging ornaments for your diving buddies.
